Aradillos-Braña de Lodar-Aradillos and   Aradillos-Barcena Mayor

 


Setting out from Aradillos Village (1001) towards Prao Pagüenzo (1070), going along the top part of Besaya Valley along the border of this river with Saja River: Once we are in Pagüenzo , we have to choose between several possibilities, one of them is to get to Braña de Lodar (1020) and to Portillo de Mostajo(1060). Going through beautiful forests having good landscape sights.

In some of the suggested alternatives there is no path.
 

The old carriage path between Aradillos and Bárcena Mayor starts right behind the Church of Aradillos. The remains of the old track is just a narrow muddy and stony path which goes up suddenly along a mountain side full of grass and limestone. It goes righ over the gas pipes and in short it offers us a beautiful scene of Campoo Valley:
Campoo de Suso Peaks are at our back, the Reinosa Plain is on our right and right in front of us there is the Ebro Dam, some nearby villages the National Motorway and the Santander Rail way.
